Global Public Health Lecture: Sabbatical in Serbia @ Gallagher Business Building Room 122

Sue Furey, retired Missoula County Public Schools teacher, will present “Sabbatical in Serbia: Comparisons and Differences Between Health, Education and Welfare in Serbia and the U.S.”

Sue spent most of her 2015 sabbatical helping young adult with disabilities in Belgrade, Serbia, navigate work, recreation and arts. In Serbia, she learned about services for people with disabilities, the Roma community and taught English. During that year, she also volunteered at a refugee camp in Greece.

Sue studied Therapeutic Recreation at the University of Illinois and spent 10 years working in community recreation for people with disabilities, teaching leisure skills and advocating for access for all.

The Global Public Health Spring 2020 Lecture series features health professionals who work to improve public health around the world sharing their experiences and insights weekly during the spring semester.

The REACH Program Air Quality Symposium features area high school students presenting the results of their yearlong air quality science research projects. Prizes are awarded for the top oral and poster presentations. Last year’s symposium hosted nearly 200 students attending and presenting their work.
